Productivity... it's an interesting one! Not to toot my horn or anything but today was so productive- meaning I accomplished so many tasks I didn't even plan to do! I confirmed 2 more speakers for the retreat (very exciting- stay tuned!!!!), did personal training morning and evening @f45matamata, worked my normal 8 hr job, squeezed in my own workout, and managed to knock out some tasks around the house. I went for an evening walk and sipped on a cup of tea feeling so satisfied with my day. This made me ponder the idea- why are some days more productive than others and how can I increase productivity levels regularly in my life- without being a workaholic or burning out, preventing me to become intune with the mind and body. Although sleep, nutrition, exercise, and being hydrated play a significant role, I think a huge part of productivity is down to doing what you're passionate about and what brings you joy. When I was at university, I would stare blankly at the computer screen for hours on end, leaving my desk having only written the title. The content bored me out of my mind! However planning this retreat, chatting with health professionals and strong wahine brings me so much energy, which allows me to get on with other tasks. Doing something that brings you joy has a huge impact on other aspects of your life.
What does all this mean then? When I say do things you are passionate about, I'm not meaning 24/7. I'm passionate about food- though if I was constantly eating every hour of the day, I would be one big momma. And let's face it- you're not going to enjoy everything you do, there are always parts of a job that you're going to dislike. What I am saying is try to identify what gives you energy/ gets you excited, and try to include them in your day-to-day life! If you don't know what that thing is that is totally fine! We are all on a journey of finding things that spark us and it's always changing depending on the stage of life we are currently in. So don't be hard on yourself. Just take the leap of faith and try something new- maybe you start making jewelry for your local market, or go for a run in the rolling hills 3 x a week, or convince your partner to try that ballroom dancing class you've always wanted to try. Find things that make you happy! When you are happy you have more energy and when you have the energy you are more productive throughout the day- allowing you to feel satisfied with the day!
